A young man with Tourette's syndrome, an anorexic-bulimic, and an neurotic steal their therapist's car and go on a road trip from Bavaria to the Italian coast, pursued by their therapist and the young man's politician father.

2.1: Chloe

Atom Egoyan's remake of the French film "Nathalie". A gynecologist suspects that her professor husband is having an affair. She hires a call girl to spy on him for her. With unexpected repercussions. An excellent film. Shot in Toronto.

Year No. Two: Movies from the Independent Theatres

We start off Year Two of the all-you-can-possibly watch movies. It's not the multiplex anymore, but guaranteed to widen our horizons of the city because we'll have to go to a lot of different regions in the city to get to the movies.

56. A Single Man

Colin Firth plays a gay English professor in LA, dealing with the loss of his partner of 13 years.

55. Kampf der Titanen (Clash of the Titans)

Remake of the classic from 1981, but this time it's Sam Worthington.

54. Männer die auf Ziegen starren (The Men Who Stare at Goats)

Ewan McGregor plays a reporter trying to get over his marriage break-up by chasing a story about soldiers that use psychic powers to combat the enemy.

53. The Blind Side

Again, Sandra Bullock, but in a serious role.

52. Precious

Wish I'd seen it in English for full effect. Read the book.

Excellent suspense.

Leonardo DiCaprio plays a US marshall sent to a maximum-security psychiatric hospital to investigate a murder. Is he nuts himself or not?

Another romantic comedy. Not as good as "It's Complicated" or "The Ugly Truth", but nonetheless entertaining.

43. A Serious Man

A small-town university professor watches his life fall apart in front of his eyes... in a black comedic kind of way.

42. Wenn Liebe so einfach wäre (It's Complicated)

Romantic comedy. Worth a watch.

41. Nanga Parbat

The story of the Messners brothers' quest to climb the 9th highest mountain in the world.

40. Surrogates - Mein zweites Ich

Interesting storyline. In the future, people lock themselves up in their homes live vicariously through the lives of their androids.

39. Fame

Debbie Allen is back!

38. Friendship!

Shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall, two young East German guys fly to America, in search of one of the guy's father, who is thought to be in San Francisco. The road trip is the story. Based on a true story.

37. Dinosaurier - Gegen uns seht ihr alt aus!

A remake of a film where senior citizens rise up against a society that neither cares nor respects them. Excellent film.

36. Emma & Marie (Je te mangerais)

Yet another basketcase psycho lesbian film that ends up in tragedy.

35. 2012

Roland Emmerich destroys the world ... again.

34. Das weiße Band (The White Ribbon)

A purely descriptive story of mysterious goings-on in small town in Northern Germany shortly before the outbreak of WWI. Don't expect closure.

33. Michael Jackson's This is it

Welcome to the crazy world of MJ. Definitely Peter Pan in Wonderland.

32. Kommt Mausi raus

Finally. A coming out lesbian film where none of the main characters is mercilessly killed off at the end. Actually quite amusing.

Spooky sci-fi horror film.

The quiet life of a German ex-terrorist is turned inside-out when the daughter she gave up to underground finds her in a rural French village.

Unbelievably hilarious movie about the stereotypes between men and women.

24. Eloise

Yet another tragic lesbian film in which one of the main characters dies at the end.

23. Oben (Up)

Typical formula works for children's films. Outcasts join forces to achieve a common goal.

22. Julie & Julia

Makes me want to watch old Julia Child videos.

21. Year One

Possibly the worst movie ever made.

20. Horst Schlämmer Isch kandidiere!

Hape Kerkeling brings his personlity from Grevenbroicher to the big screen and even plays Angela Merkel. A parody of German politics.

19. Maria, ihm schmeckt's nicht

Culture shock! The great Italian-German wedding. Will they survive themselves?

Sandra Bullock plays a self-centred Torontoian working in the Big Apple and runs into visa trouble. Solution: marry an American--her assistant Ryan Reynolds. A good laugh.

Not a fan.

Sid plays mommy to baby dinos... ain't that cute.

An American adaptation of the Japanese original. Kept me guessing to the end.

Shot on Bowen Island, BC. Nice scenery.

Ben Stiller back as the night watchman of the museum where everything comes alive after dark...

The film not bad. The novel was better, though.

The biography of the German post-war film star, Hildegard Knef.

6-John Rabe

Brilliantly filmed. The story of a German businessman who tries to protect his Chinese workers from the impending Japanese invaders and the Nazis.

5-Gran Torino

Excellent movie. Clint Eastwood plays a racist, recently widowed man coping with living alone and befriending his Laotian immigrant neighbours.

4-Der Kaufhaus Cop (Paul Blart: Mall Cop)

Blart's a loser but he comes through and saves the day.

3-Ghosted

A film by Monika Treut, set in Hamburg and Taipei. Kinda arty.

2-Forbidden Kingdom

Jacky Chan meets Hollywood. Entertaining.

1-Slumdog Millionär (Slumdog Millionaire)

A Danny Boyle fairy tale. Without zombies.
